More urban legends and hoaxes: Febreze Warning, Tommy Hilfiger Rumor, and The Great 'Gas Out'

Febreze Warning

From the Veterinary Emergency Center in Needham, MA.:

Febreze, a new product that is used to get odors out of fabrics, has been causing deaths and illness in dogs, cats and birds. There have been multiple instances reported in the past few weeks of dogs, cats and birds dying after Febreze was used anywhere near them. Some dogs have only gotten very ill, but some have died. Several birds have died as well.

Febreze contains zinc chloride, which is the culprit. If you have recently sprayed your dog's bed with this product, please wash it until you get all of the Febreze out, or get your dog or cat new bedding. Please pass the word along to your friends so we can prevent further deaths.

Editor's Note: According to both the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and Proctor & Gamble, the maker of Febreze, there is no reason to believe this story, no evidence to suggest that Febreze is harmful to pets, and nobody alive who is able to corroborate the allegations that any pet has become sick or died as a result of being exposed.

Tommy Hilfiger Rumor

I'm sure many of you watched the recent taping of the Oprah Winfrey show where her guest was Tommy Hilfiger. On the show, she asked him if the statements about race he was accused of saying were true.

Statements like:"...if I'd known African-Americans, Hispanics, jews and Asians would buy my clothes, I would not have made them so nice. I wish these people would *NOT* buy my clothes, as they are made for upper class white people."

His answer to Oprah was a simple "YES". Whereafter, she immediately asked him to leave her show.

Let's give him what he asked for. Let's not buy his clothes! let's put him in a financial state where he himself will not be able to afford the ridiculous prices he puts on his clothes.

PLEASE SEND THIS MESSAGE TO ANYONE YOU KNOW WHO SPENDS THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY ON CLOTHES MADE BY SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT RESPECT THEM AS A PERSON OR A PEOPLE!

Editors Note: This is not true. It is a Hoax

The Great "Gas Out"

It's time we did something about the price of gasoline in America! We are all sick and tired of high prices when there are literally millions of gallons in storage.

Know what I found out? If there was just ONE day when no one purchased any gasoline, prices would drop drastically.

The so-called oil cartel has decided to slow production by some 2 million barrels per day to drive up the price. I have decided to see how many Americans we can get to NOT BUY ANY GASOLINE on one particular day!

Let's have a GAS OUT! Do not buy any gasoline on APRIL 30, 1999,,!!!!! Buy on Thursday before, or Saturday after. Do not buy any gasoline on FRIDAY, APRIL 30, 1999.

Wanna help? Send this message to everyone you know. Ask them to do the same. All we need is a few million to participate in order to make a difference. Let me know how many you will send out. We CAN make a difference.
